“It’s really hard to design products by focus groups. A lot of times, people don’t know what they want until you show it to them.”
– Steve Jobs, interview with BusinessWeek, May 25 1998
We were pretty nervous about how our world was going to look last week. Knowing the Mayan “End of Days” was only a few days away, we decided to go out on a limb and put together a focus group.
We chose to focus our focus group on how improving our current integration with Harvest could make life easier for people using both applications. We’ve already got a working integration, but we really want to build a powerful add-on for Harvest users.
Harvest is a time-tracking solution that offers reporting, invoicing and management of your work and billings processes. It’s popular with many of our current users, and it is a tool that developers love.
Our guests were:
- Dana Ditomaso from online marketing firm Kick Point
- Thorren Koopmans from digital web agency Lift Interactive
- Ken Bellous from web development/design firm Yellow Pencil, and
- Andrea Gibson from advertising and design group The Met Agency
What took place was enlightening.
Our gathering was a resounding success, and we will be taking the next few weeks to sort out our findings and begin planning.
Future blog posts will highlight the conversations we had, and we hope that you will share your thoughts with us.
So however you may celebrate the holiday (especially if you’re readying for the end of days), we hope you stay warm and safe and get some well-deserved time with friends and family.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!
